I got the best compliment today!
I went to a new place to get my morning espresso, and after I finished and paid, the owner looks at me funny. “You take that in very Italian way,” he comments. I ask him to specify and he explains that I did not sip it in distaste, ask for water, or take forever, but rather I got the job done and was on my way. With cappuccinos they take their time, but espresso has a purpose.
That’s a good thing, right?! I ask him excitedly. He nods and smiles, “si, si.”
So there you have it, I am a qualified Italian!
